Katie Higton is a muggle born who's about to go into her Sixth year at Hogwarts of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She's very quiet and keeps to herself. However, that all changes when the Marauders come into her life.

Chapter 5: Filthy Little Mudblood

The week after Remus had asked Katie to be his girlfriend, the whispers of students gossiping about their relationship still hadn’t died down. Katie had begun to feel uncomfortable with people, mainly girls who were jealous of her that she had taken Remus away from them. She found whenever she walked through corridors they’d all stare at her as if she was some abnormal creature. Some of the comments that were said about her would upset her but she’d always tried not to show it affected her in front of Remus, she didn’t want to feel weak.

On a good note, Katie was in a happy bubble. She had a boyfriend who cared about her and was genuinely interested in everything she said. She had friends which was new to her seeing as she hadn’t had them for a long time. They all enjoyed spending time with her. The Marauders had even taught her how to enjoy the bigger and better pranks and showed her James’ invisibility cloak, the Marauders’ Map and all the secret passageways they’d discovered over the years. She felt as if she had completed A Dummies Guide to being a Marauder with exceptional marks in the other Marauders eyes.

Katie was walking up to the Gryffindor common room where she said she’d meet the others when she heard to deep masculine voices around the corner. Katie stopped and tried to hear what they were saying.

“You need to stop hanging around that stupid Mudblood, Snape. The others may not see you sneaking off or sending owls to her but I’m not blind!” said one voice, viciously.

“Don’t call her a Mudblood, she’s not that bad.” Snape replied.

“What did you say? Are you changing your mind? You know what could happen if everyone new you’d become a blood traitor. Think of what the Dark Lord could do to you if he knew.” The other voice taunted him.

“What? No! I’ll stay away from her. I’ll always honour our Master. My future will always be as a death-” Snaped replied, quickly.

“Shut up! Do you hear that?” the voice hissed at him.

Katie heard quick footsteps coming to where she was. Katie looked around searching for a place to hide but couldn’t find one. She turned around and came face to face with Lucius Malfoy with Snape behind him.

“Didn’t your filthy Mudblood mother tell you it’s wrong to eavesdrop, Higton? Oh wait, fortunately she’s dead.” Malfoy said to her.

“Shut up!” Katie replied, angrily.

“Ha, is that the best comeback you have? You’re ridiculous!” he said.

Katie slowing searched her pocket for her wand and as she was about to cast a curse at him, he beat her to it.

“Levicorpus!” He shouted at her and Katie was immediately thrust into the air, upside down as if something was holding her by her ankle. As she was jolted upwards, she dropped her wand.

“Put me down, you scum!” She shouted at him.

“I don’t think I will, I’m enjoying the view of seeing your knickers.” He replied, being perverted.

Katie realised she had been wearing a skirt that day and had been pulled down over her stomach by gravity; she tried to cover herself up but failed.

Malfoy cast a curse that threw Katie into the wall, pretty hard and felt the back of her head start to bleed. She began to get sparkles in her eyesight and felt as if she was about to faint. Katie was having difficulty keeping her eyes open when she heard loud footsteps running down the corridor and curses being thrown at Malfoy and Snape.

Someone had run over to her to check she was okay. Their voice seemed too deep to be a girl’s voice so it must have been a boy.

“Katie, sweetheart, you’re going to be okay. We’re going to take to the Hospital Wing now. You’re safe.” He said to her.

“Remus, tell Remus where I am, please.” She asked.

Katie’s eyes began to droop and she blacked out not hearing the boy say that he was Remus.

Katie heard muffled voices around her and some kind of springy noise. Her head was pounding and sending shooting pains down her neck. She wanted the noises to stop so she’d get some peace.

“Padfoot, will you stop jumping on the hospital bed. You’re going to wake Katie up!” said Remus, Katie had known it was his voice since she had become accustomed to it.

“Why? It’s fun! Katie looks like she’s dead, anyway.” Sirius replied.

“I’m glad to know I can pass off as dead. Now I can fool people when I do the ‘play dead’ trick.” Katie replied, sarcastically whilst opening her eyes.

James, Sirius and Peter all laughed at her statement whilst Remus looked over the moon to see that she was awake.

“How are you feeling?” He asked, concerned.

“Not too bad. However, it feels as if my head is being hit by a hammer but I guess there’s not much I can do about that.” She replied.

“Madam Pomfrey will most definitely keep you in for another day and will probably give you a sleeping draught.” He said, sadly.

“You’re correct, Mr Lupin. Which means that I want all of you out of here, so Miss Higton can have some rest without you lot squabbling around her.” She said impatiently.

“I’ll come back later and check on you.” Remus said to her and kissed her. He then dragged the other Marauders’ out and shut the door.

“Right, drink this up now.” Madam pomfrey said to her whilst handing her the sleeping drought potion.

Katie drank it all, whilst squeezing her face up in disgust from the taste. After a couple of minutes she fell into a deep, dreamless sleep.

Katie woke up to Remus’ face lying on the pillow next to her, sleeping. She smiled and played with his hair for a bit deciding to give him some rest. Eventually he woke and smiled at her still dozed with sleep.

“Feeling better?” he asked her.

“Much. It was even nicer waking up to the sight of you.” She said, romantically.

Remus smiled at her and leaned over to kiss her passionately.

“Stop doing that, right now!” Madam Promfrey said loudly whilst walking into the room. She handed one last potion to Katie and told her to skip classes for the rest of the day and for Remus to keep on eye on her.

Remus took the job very seriously and took Katie down to the kitchens where she could stuff her face for good quality food and some Pumpkin Juice. He took her back to the common and sat down on the sofa facing the fireplace and cuddled up.

“So what happened after Malfoy threw me against the wall? I can’t really remember what happened after that.” She asked him.

“The others and I turned up after seeing you on the map surrounded by those two Slytherin’s and basically duelled them, leaving them stupefied.” Remus explained.

“I then took you to the hospital where you had already passed out. Madam Pomfrey had been working on stopping the heavy bleeding from the head wound the rest of the night. It didn’t seem to want to stop but it eventually did.” He carried on.

“Oh, thank you for saving me, My Hero.” She said to him, quoting herself once remembering she had called him that when they have arrived at Hogwarts and Remus had saved her from drowning in the lake.

Remus chuckled, remembered the same event. They both seemed to dose off for a while until Remus woke up again just to get a blanket from his dorm to put over the two of them and went back to sleep.

Hi, sorry I haven't a posted a chapter for a long time. The reaosn behind this is because I don't think the story is very good and I didn't think plot through, I just made it up as I went along.

If you guys disagree with me then I'll carry on and try to make it interesting. If not, then I'll either change it completely or try a different story.

Let me know what you guys think and thank you for reading what I've done so far :)
