Rowling. The first thing that registered to Layla in her drunken mind was that Sirius' lips felt like fire on hers. A good fire. Her lips were burning and she felt herself pulling him closer. He instantly obliged, his hands were grabbing fistfuls of her hair, and he was kissing her urgently. The burning sensation that she had felt on her lips was now scorching her entire body, and she felt engulfed in the flames. When Sirius finally pulled away, they were both breathing heavily. Her arms were still wrapped around his neck, and his hands were gripping her waist tightly. "Let's go up to my dormitory," he told her, still breathing a bit heavily. Layla's heart was pounding in her ears, and she stared at him. She was feeling rather dizzy from the snog and her breathing still hadn't returned to normal. "Your dormitory?" she repeated. He brushed his lips against hers gently in a kiss that made her stomach swirl. "Yeah, come on," he whispered against her lips. "The boys won't mind." She faintly noticed that he tasted of Firewhiskey. Layla said nothing and she—rather stupidly, she would realize later—allowed him to lead her to the boys' dormitories. Her eyes scanned the crowd as she followed him, searching for Anna in her drunken haze. She spotted her near the fireplace, sitting on one of the Prewett twin's laps, snogging him blissfully. Layla had no idea which one he was. She was staring at her friend so intently that Layla didn't notice that somebody was resentfully watching her as Sirius closed the door labeled 'Boys Dormitories' behind them. Sirius drunkenly stumbled on the way up the spiral staircase and a giggle escaped Layla. He looked back at her, scowling slightly, although his eyes showed a hint of amusement. Another giggle escaped Layla and soon, both she and Sirius were in fits of laughter, stopping only when they reached the door labeled 'Sixth Years'. Layla stumbled in, throwing herself on the first bed she saw. It must have been Sirius' because he threw himself next to her then drew the curtains closed around them. He quickly took another swig of the bottle they had been drinking from earlier then placed it on his bedside dresser. Before Layla could make sense of the fact that she was laying in Sirius Black's bed, he gently cupped her face and began kissing her again. She honestly thought that she could have gone on kissing him forever. She didn't consider herself a slag, as she had only had sex with Adam a couple of times, but here she was, acting completely and utterly sluggish in Sirius' bed. She didn't protest when his shirt had mysteriously gone missing. In fact, she ran her hands up and down his back, chest, and arms, delighted at the obvious muscles. She didn't protest when he unzipped her dress and pulled it over her head, leaving her exposed in her bra and panties. In fact, she pulled him closer and allowed for his hands, lips, and tongue to roam over her body as they pleased. And it wasn't until the deed was done, and she found herself being forced awake the next morning by a furious Anna that she ever considered that she might just regret this. "Layla! What the fuck!" Layla's eyes shot open and she was instantly blinded by the sun. She shielded her eyes with her hand and noticed a faint throb building up in her skull, the beginnings of a raging headache. She groaned, pulling the unfamiliar scarlet covers over head. "What the hell, Anna?" The covers were instantly ripped away and a deep male voice grumbled, "Oi, what the fuck?" next to her. Layla's eyes snapped open as the previous night came rushing back to her. "Don't you 'what the hell, Anna' me, Layla Lockwood! What in the bloody fuck is wrong with you? What were you thinking? What about Adam?" Anna was positively seething. "Oh, my God," Layla bolted up, snatching the covers from Anna and wrapping them around herself. She turned, and blushed a deep scarlet when eyeing a naked Sirius, covering his parts with a pillow. She quickly turned away and buried her head in her hands. "Oh, my God." "At least you have the decency to be ashamed," Anna said, glaring in the direction of Sirius, who just shrugged. "Do you have any idea how worried I was when you didn't come back to the dorm last night? I was thinking 'Well, this is Layla we're talking about. She can't have gotten into too much trouble.' And what do you know? You did exactly that. You're just lucky it was Lupin who saw you coming up here and not somebody else, otherwise this'd be all over the bleeding school right now. Put some clothes on, I'll meet you back in our dorm. I'm going to leave you to do the walk of shame back to Ravenclaw Tower by yourself." And with that, Anna left, slamming the door shut behind her. Layla didn't need to be told twice. She quickly went about searching for her clothes, making sure to keep the comforter wrapped around her, and avoiding looking at Sirius at all. "Layla." She ignored him, trying to get dressed without revealing anything to him. It was proving to be rather difficult but she was persistent in her task. Sirius tried again to talk to her. "Layla." What did he even want from her? He already got a shag out of her so what the hell bleeding else did he want? Layla had slipped on her dress already and she let the covers fall, needing only her shoes now. She couldn't find them. She had almost resigned to just leaving her shoes here when Sirius stood in front of her—fully dressed now—and placed his hands on her shoulders. She stared at the floor, trying to focus on her toenails and the fact that she was due to paint them again. "Layla," he said again. She still didn't look at him as she finally spoke. "I, er, I think it'd be best if we . . . if we just forgot about this, you know. And possibly never spoke about this, er, again. . . Ever." She bit her lip nervously. Sirius dropped his hands from her shoulders. "Okay," he said, and Layla breathed a sigh of relief. She had almost been expecting that he would argue with her. She nodded, and just having spotted her shoes, bent to pick them up. Then she opened the door and all but ran out the room. "Go away, McKinnon." "But I'm telling you," Marlene insisted. "I saw them myself." Adam rolled his eyes. "I know you were drinking last night, I just saw you nursing your hangover not five minutes ago. You must've mistaken her for somebody else. That doesn't sound like Layla at all." Marlene's nostrils flared angrily. "Layla isn't easily mistaken for anybody else, you twat," she snapped. "Now I've told you what I saw so fucking do something about it." Adam's eyes narrowed at her. "What does it matter to you at all?" She clicked her tongue in obvious annoyance. "She slept with Sirius. I don't like her," she said simply. "And you're hoping to get back at her by telling me about it?" Adam shook his head. "McKinnon, Layla would never do that to me." "Well she did." "Just let it go, McKinnon." And just as the words came out of his mouth, the door leading to the boys' dormitories clicked open, and Layla dashed out as fast as she could. Adam's mouth dropped open in a perfect 'O' as he took in her appearance. Her hair was disheveled, eyeliner smeared, lips slightly bruised, and she wasn't even wearing shoes. "Layla?" he called out, effectively stopping her in her tracks. She turned to look at him, her eyes wide, and a guilty look on her face. "Oh, Adam, I, er, I wasn't expecting to see you here. What a lovely surprise." Her voice was really high-pitched and she was ringing her hands together nervously as she spoke. "I was, um, I was just . . ." "See? I told you," Marlene gloated. The door to the boys' dormitories clicked open again, and this time it was Sirius who came out. He looked just as disheveled as Layla and his lips looked to be even more bruised than hers. He was un-oblivious to the tension in the room as he took in the look of glee on Marlene's face, the utter rage on Adam's, and the wide ashamed eyes on Layla's. Adam watched as Sirius and Layla stoke a glance at each other. Sirius looked unperturbed and Layla had pure guilt written all over her face. "Adam," she began hastily, but he cut her off. He was overwhelmed by all sorts of emotions: hurt, anger, betrayal. But mostly anger. "You fucking whore," he heard himself saying. "I can't believe you would do this to me. And with this twat." The look of hurt on Layla's face was instantaneous. He saw the tears springing to her eyes and felt a jolt of satisfaction at the sight. Marlene was practically beaming behind him but he paid no attention to her. "Hey, Boberg," Sirius called. He was smirking at Adam as he spoke. "She's certainly even more beautiful naked, isn't she, mate?" Layla's eyes widened in surprise and a deep blush crept up her cheeks at the words. She was very aware of the fact that everybody in the Gryffindor common room was now watching the scene. Sirius walked over to her and draped a lazy arm over her shoulder. She tensed immediately but he ignored her, too busy taunting Adam. "Has she showed you that thing that she does with her tongue yet?" And that's when Adam lunged. "Why would you say that?" Peter asked his mate. He was looking at him with an odd expression that was somewhere between horrified and impressed. "Because it's true," Sirius answered, shrugging. "Yes, well, you didn't have to tell him that," Remus scolded. "Ah but you know Padfoot, Moony. It wasn't enough that he slept with the bloke's girlfriend, he had to rub it in his face as well," James said, shaking his head in amusement. "And then he had to kick his arse," Peter piped up. "Boberg lunged at me first," Sirius said, as though that justified everything. He scowled and winced as he recalled the crunching sound that resulted when Boberg's fist had come in contact with his nose. "He broke my nose," he grumbled bitterly, even though it had already been healed properly. "You had just shagged his bird, idiot. You deserved it." "Layla Lockwood," James mused. "What was that like?" "Well, she certainly wasn't inexperienced," Sirius replied with a smirk. "Reckon that the Minister wouldn't be too pleased about that," Peter put in, chuckling a bit. The smirk vanished completely from Sirius' face. "Mr. Black," Healer Horodowich called before any of them could ask him what was wrong, "The Headmaster is waiting for you in his office. He wishes to speak with you. I'm told that you already know the password." Sirius nodded from his cot in the Hospital Wing. He was unsurprised to hear the words and had, in fact, been expecting them. "I suppose I'll see you lot later," he told his friends nonchalantly. They nodded, bidding their farewells as they headed in opposite directions. "I cannot believe you had drunk sex with Sirius Black last night," Anna whispered. Her anger had abated since finding Layla naked in Sirius Black's bed and now she was more sympathetic to the fact that Rosaline bitch Higgins was the one who caused her drink so much in the first place. "Don't remind me," Layla said helplessly as she buried her head in her palms. She had showered since the fight, cried about everything to Anna in their dorm, and now she wanted nothing more than to forget everything that had happened. The two girls were sitting in a corner of the library, trying to do last minute homework, just as they did every Sunday. "It's just, it's Sirius Black." "I know," Layla replied miserably. "What was I thinking?" "Yes, well, I can't help but wonder. . . I mean, it's Sirius Black. I just—how was he?" Layla stared at her friend, alarmed. "Anna! You did not just ask me that," she scolded. "What?" Anna asked indignantly. "You've heard all the rumors; you can't blame me for wondering." "Keep wondering because I don't even want to think about it, let alone talk about it," Layla said, shifting her eyes back to her Ancient Runes work. "Fine, be that way then," Anna grumbled, turning back to her own assignment. Layla bit her lip. In all honesty it was all she had been able to think about. Her mind just refused to think about anything else and she felt unbelievable guilty about the butterflies that exploded in her stomach whenever she thought about the way he held her and stroked her hair until she fell asleep after. She felt unbelievable guilty about the fact that Adam had never once crossed her mind throughout the entire ordeal. She just felt rotten about everything. And then there was the fact that what had transpired would soon reach Alex's ears. She wasn't too sure what to do about that. And then there was the thing with Rosaline and her father. She wasn't too sure what to do about that either. "Er, Layla," Anna began, staring with wide eyes at something behind her. Layla paid her no attention. "Fucking hell, what am I going to do?" she groaned, burying her head in her hands again. "Everything's just going to shit." She heard a chair scraping next to her as someone sat down and she nearly stopped breathing as she recognized the scent of the person that had just sat down. Her eyes widened in surprise and she sent Anna a pleading look, knowing that he wouldn't be able to see her face from the way her hair was covering it. Anna, shit mate that she was, shook her head and cleared her throat. "Oh, look at the time," she said, looking pointedly at her wrist even though she didn't even own a watch. "Why I'm unbelievably late. I have to go do my laundry, how could I have been so daft as to forget?" She laughed a huge fake laugh as she shook her head in what was supposed to be disbelief. "I'll see you lot later, yeah? Cheerio!" And with a quick wave, she scampered from the library, leaving Layla doomed to face the music on her own. "What are you working on?" he asked in a pathetic attempt to break the silence that had settled between the two of them. "Ancient Runes," she replied, still refusing to look at him. "Oh." An awkward silence settled over them once again. "Listen," he said, "I just wanted to apologize." Layla's head snapped up and she looked at Sirius properly for the first time since last night. "What?" "I just—I didn't think about how all of this would really affect you, and I'm sorry. I'm not saying I regret what happened because honestly, you're a pretty good shag and I wouldn't mind in the least if it happened again"—Layla's face reddened considerably at the words—"but I just didn't think about what would happen if your brother found out and he told your father. I never gave a rat's ass about Boberg because he's a git, though," he couldn't help but add. Layla stared at him in bewilderment. "Why do you care what happens to me if my father finds out?" she couldn't help but ask. He shrugged. "Because I feel bad about the way things are between you and your father." "Oh." Layla had no idea how to respond to that. Then a sudden thought occurred to her. "How did you know to find me here?" "You always spend your Sundays in the library doing homework," he replied but before Layla could speculate further, they were interrupted. "Oh, I'm glad to see you're all chummy now after having had sex behind my back," Adam snapped down at them. He was standing at the end of their table, arms crossed, glaring down at the pair of them. "I'd leave if I were you," Sirius said coolly, "Unless you'd like another trip to the Hospital Wing. What would it be, the third time in two days? Maybe you could Madame Pomfrey and Healer Horodowich if you can start leaving your toothbrush there." Adam rolled his eyes. "Very funny, Black. But I actually came here to speak with Layla, if you wouldn't mind." "Oh no, go on, take a seat," Sirius said, gesturing to the chair that had been previously vacated by Anna. "I'd like to talk to her alone," Adam clarified. "Oh?" Sirius feigned interest, not moving an inch. "Sirius," Layla scolded. "No, just forget it," Adam scowled. He looked at Layla as he spoke his next words. "I wonder what your father would think if he knew his precious perfect daughter was nothing more than another one of Sirius Black's whores." Layla visibly winced at his words as she watched him stalk out of the library. The beginnings of tears were forming in her hazel eyes. "Layla," Sirius started. He made to put his hand on her arm but she wrenched it away. Hurriedly, she stuffed her things in her book bag then left the library as well. "He actually told you that?" Anna asked incredulously. Layla nodded as she sobbed into her pillow. "Well, he's just hurt, dear," Anna sat down on Layla's bed and attempted to console the girl. "You can't expect him to treat you nicely after what happened. He's just trying to hurt you like you hurt him." "I know," Layla said sadly. "But it doesn't stop it from hurting any less." "I know, dear," Anna said gently, stroking Layla's hair. "I'm a horrible person. I'm going to hell," Layla cried, hugging her pillow closer. "I don't think there's going to be any room for you down there," Anna replied. "What with that stupid Voldy fellow and all his pureblood-manic followers wrecking havoc everywhere. There's not going to be any room left for slags when they all kick the bucket." "That's not funny, Anna." "You're right, I'm sorry." "Speaking of slags," Layla said slyly, wiping her face. "I saw you last night, practically slurping the face off of one of the Prewett twins. Care to share?" "Oh, yes, of course," Anna said nonchalantly, smoothing out her skirt. "That was nothing." "Oh, don't give me that," Layla said, playfully giving her a nudge. "Come on, spill. What happened?" "Well," Anna began, her eyes lighting up with excitement, "Gideon Prewett is fantastic at kissing, let me tell you. Although I'm sure he doesn't compare to Black. Are you willing to share about that yet?" "Oh, come off it," Layla said. "We're talking about you right now." "Fine but you can't blame a girl for trying." Layla rolled her eyes. But as Anna started telling her own tale of what happened last night, a sudden thought struck Layla: How in the hell had Sirius known that she always spent her Sundays doing homework in the library? So what do you all think of my latest installment? Do you all think Layla would have responded to what happened the way she did? I wasn't too sure myself, but I tried my hardest. Please let me know your thoughts in a review. Have a lovely day! Love, M.K. http://www.harrypotterfanfiction.com |
