Chapter 6: The First Patrol
Chapter Six: The First Patrol
The dorm was huge. The common room alone was bigger than the Gryffindor common room. There was a large stone fireplace built into the wall of the room, which filled with a comfy blaze the moment we entered the room. The walls were a dark green color with silver and gold swirls in a design upon them. There were two leather sofas in the room and two chairs to match all surrounding the fire place. In the middle between the chairs there was a large oak wood table as well four smaller tables, one on each side the two sofas. The carpeting was a deep green and was soft to the touch. On the far left wall of the dorm was a spiral staircase which led to the second floor, individual dorms. Next to the staircase was a smaller set of doors that led to a personal kitchen. To state the obvious, the dorm was amazing.
“Wow.” I breathed in pure awe.
“I second that.” Ginny said. She pulled my hand and led me to the stairs, intending to see our rooms. At the top of the stairs there were four doors each with a portrait and golden plate that said our name. Ginny had the room next to mine, and she went into her dorm. I set my pass word as changeling and went into my own dorm. I was surprised because instead of being in either Slytherin or Gryffindor colors, my room scheme was set in pastel pink, my favorite color. The walls were pink with black flowers etched into them like a painting of sorts, and the carpet was a fluffy white. The bed had a black curtain that surrounded the queen sized bed with a soft mattress.
My trunk was placed on the edge of the bed and with a flick of my wand I unpacked it placing all my clothes into the closet or dresser and all my books onto the book case. On the nightstand by my bed there were pictures of my muggle family as well as my birth family. I smiled fondly at the ones of my muggle parents before placing them inside my trunks as memories.
A knock sounded on my door and soon Blaise popped his head into my room. He saw the pictures in my trunk.
“Are those your muggle parents?”
“You don’t want those pictures.”
“They will only make me sad. I mean I still love them as my family, but having spent the summer with you and mom and dad, I feel like a whole person. When I was with them I thought it was what everybody felt for their parents, and I do love them, but there seemed to be something missing, something I never really noticed until you found me.”
“What happened to them?”
“Well, I erased their memories for their protection and they moved to Australia and I don’t know where they are. I had gone to find them, but they had another child. So I left them to their new lives and went to clean out their house and I found the letter saying that I was adopted.”
“Do you miss them?”
“Yeah, I do, but I’m happy and I feel loved and whole where I am now. I guess it is hard to explain.”
“I suppose so. Well I just came to say goodnight to my little sister, so goodnight.”
“Goodnight Blaise, I love you.”
“Yeah I love you to Rena.”
I went to sleep then, after getting changed and washing off my make-up in my connected bathroom.
The next morning, I woke early and went to the kitchen and made coffee. As I was drinking it Draco came in.
“Morning.” He muttered. “Is there a to-go cup, because we have patrol now.”
“Yup, here.” I said pouring him some coffee into a travel mug, and pouring me some as well. I handed him the mug.
“No problem. We should probably go before we are late. We have to check the corridors to make sure they are empty for the next hour than direct the first years to the great hall for breakfast.”
“Yeah, fun.” He grumbled and I smirked.
“I see you are not a morning person.” He just glared at me, so I grabbed his arm and pulled him out of the dorm.
The next hour was spent in mostly silence as we patrolled the hallway. I caught one fourth year in the hallway in the first 10 minutes and warned them. Draco wanted to give him a detention for knowing the curfew rule but I told him since it was the first day we would let it slide but we wouldn’t be so lenient if we caught him again. We had informed the prefects before the end of the meeting yesterday to be outside their dorms at quarter to seven. We met them all out of their dorm and told them to bring their first year students to the main Hall. When all 100 students and the prefects were there we directed the students into the Great Hall.
“Okay guys, before you go in I just want to inform you that we will no longer be escorting you to breakfast. Breakfast is daily from 7 to 9 and classes will begin at 9:30. There is a break from all classes for lunch at noon until one, and dinner is always at 7. Today all students will receive their timetables at eight o’clock when the owls bring the mail so please remain in the Great Hall at your table until after you have it.” I said to all the first year students and watched until they all entered the great hall.
Draco had already turned to the prefects.
“Alright, Go way up you houses Prefects. Everybody needs to be here by 8. The Head Girln and I will remain here to supervise the First Years.”
The prefects left to do his bidding and I turned to him.
“Shall we go eat breakfast Then?” He smiled.
“Yup. Hunger is a bad thing, and food will make it better.” I smirked.
We walked together to the Slytherin table and sat next to each other.
“Hmm?” I muttered because I had a mouth full of food.
Draco didn’t reply for several moments just stared at me. I turned my head and met his gaze.
“We are friends now right?”
“I wouldn’t let you call me Rena if we were not friends Draco. Yeah, were friends.”
“Well, I don’t want to be friends.” He said and I could feel my face fall. “I want to be more than friends he continued.”
“Serena Zabbini, will you be my girlfriend?”
I was shocked but I managed a smirk beneath it.
“Well, I can’t say until you take me on a date first.”
“Will you go on a date with me?”
“Hogsmede me and you tomorrow.”
I was going on a date with my former enemy, what was to happen?
