Chapter 21: Solved
[View Online]

Hermione walked the muggle streets for hours. She was soaking wet when she arrived at the park. She went to the tree that she and Ron sat under. A man with bright red hair was sitting under the tree, soaking wet. Hermione sat next to him.

''Ron,'' she said.

He kept his eyes fixed on the ground in front of him, not looking at her.

''Fine, just listen then. Viktor came over, he wanted me and him to get back together. He came onto me...I know that I should have pushed him away, but I froze. I didn't know what to do, Ron.''

Ron looked up at the sky, but still, said nothing to Hermione.

''Ron...when he kissed me, there was somthing missing. Something that is there when you and I kiss wasn't there. I felt nothing for him. Nothing. He means nothing to me. But you...Ron...you mean the world to me, and if you were to leave me, I don't know what I would do with myself. I love you.''

Ron made eye contact with her. They held a gaze for a while. It was going past ten seconds, and neither of them had taken a breath.

''Hermione,'' said Ron. ''It about killed me when you told me. I wanted to, fuss at you because you let him, I wanted to ring his neck because he did, and I wanted to protect you from him all at once. My head was spinning, but...none-the-less, I'm glad you told me.''

Hermione looked at him.

''I know...I was wrong,'' she said.

''But at least you told me about it. Thank you for that.''

''But, Ron. I didn't feel anything when he kissed me.''

Ron held up a hand and Hermione fell silent.

''You told me. When we kiss, you feel something, but when you and Krum kissed today, there was...''

''Nothing. There was nothing at all.''

''I've missed you,'' he said taking her hand.

''I've missed you, Ron,'' she said. ''I mean, I know it's only been a day, and it's not like we were spending time apart really but-''

Ron interrupted her with a kiss that was like no other. She sank into it and her hands went to his sodden hair. Her lips parted as Ron's wonderful tongue wondered into her mouth.

There they were...sitting under a tree snogging in the pouring rain. It was an unusual picture, but it was the most beautiful thing that you could have seen.

''Ron...'' said Hermione. ''Where you thinking about marrying me?''

Ron looked at her. He let out a sigh.

''Yes I was,'' he said. ''I love you more than life itself. I know that I don't have a ring or anything, but Hermione...will you marry me?''

Hermione let tears instantly spill from her eyes. They were not tears of sadness though. They couldn't be. She loved Ron too much for them to be tears of sadness. No...they were tears of joy.

''Of course, Ron...I'll marry you.''

She hugged him and went into another amazing kiss that lasted for several minutes. Thunder clapped and lightening flashed as they sat under the tree snogging uncontrolably. Each of them were soaked to the bone, but neither of them cared. Everything was right with them...what more was there to do?

The two pulled away and put their foreheads together and gazed into each other's eyes. Neither of them noticed an old man walk up next to them. He was wearing a purple cloak, high-heeled boots, and a pointed hat. He kept his long silver beard tucked in his belt, and his twinkling blue eyes shone behind half-moon spectacles.

''Friendship is when you would go a thousand miles for each other. Love...is when you would go a million. It seems that you two have passed the million mark,'' said the man.

The two looked up at the man. Dumbledore stood smiling in front of them. They stood up and faced him.

''I have been waiting for you two to get together. It's been written in the stars for ages,'' he said.

Hermione smiled.

''Thank you, Professor Dumbledore,'' she said.

''I believe that you should just call me Albus now...seeing as my teaching days are over.''

Another smile spread to his face. With a tiny pop he was gone.

Hermione stood next to Ron, who grabbed her hand.

''Come on,'' he said. ''Let's get out of the rain.''

They walked into the flat and were greeted by Harry, Ginny, and Bill. They had been at their flat waiting on their return for hours. After reassuring the group that they were fine now, the two walked upstairs to change into some dry clothes. They met in the corridor.

''Are we going to tell them?'' asked Ron.

''I suposse it would be best to go ahead and do it,'' replied Hermione.

Hermione turned to walk off, but Ron grabbed her arm. She turned to face him.

''I love you,'' he said.

Hermione kissed him and continued walking downstairs. Ron followed her, his hand linked with hers. They stood before Harry, Ginny, and Bill.

''We...have an announcement to make,'' began Hermione.

''Well, we're getting married,'' said Ron.

''Well it's about time!'' said Harry.

Ron looked at him in astonishment.

''What?'' he asked.

''Well, we all knew that it would come eventually, but...we wanted you to make the move on your own,'' said Harry with a smile to Ron.

Ron's ears turned red.

''Sorry to make it short, Ron, but we've got to get going,'' said Harry.

Harry stood up and helped Ginny, who was holding James, to her feet. The two walked out of the flat.

''Yeah. I should get back home to mum and tell her the good news. I'll see you later then,'' said Bill before he left the flat.

Ron turned to Hermione and kissed her sweetly. He pulled away. His eyes focused on hers for several minutes. Ron let his hand rise up to Hermione's cheek.

''Hermione,'' he whispered.

Words failed him. He began staring at her again. He could not help but stare at her. He was going to spend the rest of his life with her. Words could not express that feeling.

''Ron?'' she said. ''Are you okay?''

''Of course I am. I'm the happiest I've ever been. Why wouldn't I be happy?''

Hermione smiled at him. Merlin, I love him.

''Hermione, I love you,'' he said softly.

He kissed her gently on her lips and pulled away.

''I love you, Ron. More than you could know.''

''I think I know,'' he said. ''I'm just...thrilled.''

''About what?''

''I'm thrilled that I can do this for the rest of my life,'' he said.

''Do what?''

Ron leaned in and kissed her deeply.
