Through the wind and the rain, she stands hard as a stone, in a world that she can't rise above. But her dreams, give her wings, and she flies to a place where she's loved. Concrete Angel.

Chapter 1: Concrete Angel

She walks to school with the lunch she packed.

Nobody knows what she's holding back.

Every day you seemed so happy, so peaceful. Every day your smile brightened my life, gave me courage. The idea that you're really gone just breaks my heart. Everyday in class, you had your hand up with every question, classic over-achiever, but now that you're gone, I just wish I could see it shoot into the air one last time. I never could or would have guessed what was happening behind closed doors. I'd always thought you stayed with him to prove a point, never because you were afraid to leave him.

Wearing the same dress she wore yesterday

She hides the bruises with the linen and lace

You said it was your favorite outfit, and we all believed you. The idea of why you wore it everyday, I never suspected. I just thought you loved it, I never thought it was to hide the truth. If only I'd seen the pain that was glittering in your eyes, I would've stopped it. He never would have hurt you again. Now, I can't help but wish that I'd noticed the signs earlier.

The teacher wonders, but she doesn't ask.

It's hard to see the pain behind the mask.

Now that you're gone all the teachers and even us students know we should have noticed the signs. You always wore the same thing, but said you loved it. You flinched when people put their hands on your shoulder, I never realized it was from fear someone would hurt you. You hid the pain so well, if only I'd noticed, I could have taken it away. We all know, we should have seen the signs, and we can't help but wish we spoke up.

Baring the burden of a secret storm,
Sometimes she wishes she was never born

I hate how you felt so alone. If only you'd let me know, I'd have held you and taken the pain away. I'd have held you and comforted you, and told you everything was going to be ok. I'd never let him hurt you again. You were the sweetest girl I'd ever met and I can't help but regret that you're gone and I never got to tell you goodbye. Never got to tell you that I really loved you. You felt so alone and now you're gone. How is it possible that I'm standing here now? Surrounded by crying people in black, looking at a rock with your name up on it. Sixth year, wasn't meant to end this way, baby.

Through the wind and the rain
She stands hard as a stone
In a world that she can't rise above

I realize that you're really gone and I can never talk to you again and it stabs my heart. We all know that you're gone, but you'll never be forgotten. You brought life to Hogwarts and made so many people smile. You're gone, but you are still in my heart. I can't figure out why you left or how it could possibly be time for you to go. I must confess though, I'm pretty angry with you. How could you leave us? Leave me? I loved you more than now you'll ever know. Why did you stay with him? I just wish I could see you one more time so I could just talk to you one last time, I'll never bother you after that, just tell my why?

But her dreams give her wings
And she flies to a place where she's loved

Concrete Angel

You're home know, and I know that, but I can't help but think that home is with me. I've been in love with you for years and it doesn't seem possible that you're really gone. You were loved by me and so many other people and it makes me sick that someone could not love you and do those things to you. You didn't deserve it, believe me. When they found your journal you wrote about how you must have deserved that treatment, but I'll tell you, you didn't. Nothing you could have done would make it ok. It wasn't your time to go. I know you'd want us happy, celebrating your life, but all I can think about is how I wish you were here.

Somebody cries in the middle of the night
The neighbors hear but, they turn out the light

You cried out for help, and you were ignored. Everyone who heard your desperate plea for help thought you weren't in danger; thought you were just messing around. I hate that I wasn't the one to hear it. I can't help but think that if I'd been there I could have saved you from his hands.

A fragile soul caught in the hands of fate
When morning comes it'll be too late

Through the wind and the rain
She stands hard as a stone
In a world that she can't rise above
But her dreams give her wings
And she flies to a place where she's loved
Concrete angel....

When you were in St. Mungo's the next morning, nurses trying to save you, you looked so frail and tiny. It made my stomach lurch seeing the purple and blue splotches. I hated seeing the stained bandages and the I.V. attached to your tiny body. I didn't want to look, but I couldn't turn my eyes away. I held you hand until I was physically pulled away. You always thought each time that each time would be the last time, and this time you were right, but now in a good way. You can't be gone. You're too beautiful and amazing to be gone from the hands of a bloke who deserves to never see the light of day again. If only someone had come a little would be here, beside me. Instead there's a whole in my wall from where I punched it and an aching in many hearts. You're still in our hearts, but not in the same way.

A statue stands in a shaded place

An angel girl with an upturned face
Her name is written on a polished rock
A broken heart that the world forgot

You never minded being the center of attention, but I just don't believe this is what you meant. I never thought I'd be standing here today, looking down at a polished, stone with your name engraved up on it. I always thought that this days would be ninety years away and I'd be beside you. You left us too soon, my sweet Rose. You're not forgotten in my heart. I keep your picture by my bedside and I dream of you at night. I know I'll see you again some day and that's what motivates me everyday to keep going. I know you're looking down on us now, and I can not wait for the day when I can hold you in my arms again.

Through the wind and the rain
She stands hard as a stone
In a world that she can't rise above
But her dreams give her wings
And she flies to a place where she's loved
Concrete angel

Wherever you are right now, my sweet Rose, wait for me. I know I'll see you again someday, in a place where no one can ever hurt you again. I won't forget you and neither will any one else. You touched hearts and that's something that could ever be taken away. So, until I see you again, have fun, wherever you are, and wait for me. I never got to tell you how much I loved you, but someday I promise I will. I don't believe in goodbyes anymore, because, after all, it's never really goodbye. I don't look at this as the end. You're having a new beginning and until I can become your next chapter, I'll keep being Scorpius in the book of my life. I'll see you again, and I know it. I'm just so honored that I got to know you.

Scorpius placed his note on the soft earth, just underneath her name.

The note only had three words on it, but they were enough: I love you.

There on his knees he almost broke down again. He was alone, because every one else had already left, but he couldn't bear to leave. Goodbye was truly the hardest word any one's ever had to say, which is why he refused to say it. Goodbye was too permanent. He would see his Rose again.

Tears stung his eyes and he had to fight not to start sobbing like a small child.

A single tear fell up on the note, causing a small damp circle to appear.

Moments later a single, red rose appeared up on it.

He smiled, "Hey, Rose," he got to his feet, "See you later."

He walked away a stronger person.

He'd said his goodbyes for now and was ready to turn a new page.

He'd see his Rose again someday, he kept that faith in his heart.

Rose leaned against the tree, breathing in the smell of cider that she had loved so much, watching him walk away. He couldn't see her, but knew she was there.

For the first time in a long time she felt happy. She wasn't in pain anymore. He could never hurt her again.

She smiled to herself as she read the note, "I love you too, Scorp."

She watched him get in to his muggle-car and drive away.

The top was down and his blonde hair whipped behind him like a ghost, "See you, Scorp." She smiled, she'd loved him too, and someday she'd have the chance to tell him too.

For now, she wanted him to live his life, let what happened to her be a lesson: live every day as if it's your last, one day you'll be right. She didn't regret what happened. It was such a small piece of a very big picture.

She knew this wasn't goodbye. He was right, he'd see her again.

Looking behind her she noticed the setting sun. She began walking towards it, for the first time in a long time, not filled with fear.

She didn't know what would become of her, but she couldn't wait to find out.

She'd see him again someday, and that gave her courage. Someday she'd be there, taking his hand, leading him home. A place with no pain, fear, sadness, or prejudices. This was home, earth was great, but it was only a temporary stay.

She'd be reunited once more with her loved ones, but until then she'd discover the adventures that lay ahead, on her own.

Maybe she'd meet one of the men her mother and father had told her of: Sirius, Lupin, maybe even her grandparents. Whatever lay ahead, she couldn't wait to discover.

She'd lived on earth and now she'd get to live Here.

There were no goodbyes, only goodbye for-nows.

Earth was temporary, but not where she was meant to be any longer.

At last, Rose Weasley was home.

A/N What did you think? Was it ok?

I know it was a different style than Unforgiven, but did you enjoy it?

I plan to start a sequal short story that tells the rest of Rose and Scorpius' story until they're reunited again, would you like to read that?
