Chapter 14: A wedding
[View Online]

Hermione smiled on as Ron tickled their daughter’s chin and ruffled their son’s hair.

‘Thanks for coming today’ he said, as he attempted to do his tie, ‘I would have totally understood you not coming. After all it isn’t really the most comfortable of positions to be in. Ex wife at the wedding to new wife’
Hermione grimaced, ‘didn’t really need to be reminded Ronald’
Ron’s cheeks went redder than usual, ‘Right, how stupid of me, sorry Hermione’

She smiled sweetly and wandered towards him. Picking up the two ends of his tie, ‘It’s fine. Today is your day just enjoy it okay.’ She finished tying his tie and kissed him very briefly on the cheek.
Hermione beckoned for her children to follow and left Ron’s room. She walked as her two children skipped and ran in front of her. Holding in her tears she knocked on the bride’s door.

A lovely looking blonde peered slowly opened the door. ‘Ah Hermione it’s you, Leanne? The kids are here. Come in’
‘No, no I’m just dropping off the page boy and flower girl’ She bent down and kissed her son and daughter’s foreheads and said, ‘good luck and have fun’

Hermione made her way down the stairs, looking back to see her kids run and hug the woman who was about to marry the man she loved.

Harry stood in his best man position. A position he had hoped he would never have to do again. One, he hated making speeches and as a best man, you have to and it has to be funny, tasteful, compliment the bride and embarrass the groom as much as possible and not be too long. That itself is enough stress without the added worry of making sure the rings are still on his person by the time the vows come round. He patted his pocket feeling for the two goblin gold rings...panic swarmed him when he couldn’t feel them; he threw his hand viciously into his pocket and rooted about till George looking on from the congregation motioned pocket on his jacket rather than trousers. Harry breathed as relief washed over him. Another reason he didn’t want to ever be a best man again was his best friend was Ron Weasley and he had already married his soul mate, his one true love and the ying to his yang. However as that marriage had broke down and Ron found love again meant that Harry was once again back in this position reluctantly. He broke from his thoughts as saw his other best friend Hermione making her way down the aisle. She looked lovely as usual and took a seat three rows behind the rest of the Weasleys. Not because she was shunned or anything but more that there was a lot of them.

Ron came bounding up the aisle, after chatting for twenty minutes to relatives. He took his place next to Harry and smiled. ‘Round two then buddy’ he said to Harry. Harry smiled, he had hoped his best friends could figure out their differences but alas it didn’t seem to be. Ron was infatuated with Leanne. She wasn’t stunningly beautiful but she was good looking and had a kind heart and loved Ron.

The organ started up and Rose and Hugo made their way down the aisle. Everyone in the congregation couldn’t help but look on in awe at the two gorgeous red haired children with their curls. They were followed by four bridesmaids; one was a very disgruntled Ginny who forced a smile down the aisle. Her burgeoning stomach protruded the peach satin fabric and the bonnet only outlined her glowing face, in all honesty Harry had to stifle a small giggle at his wife’s appearance. She looked gorgeous as per usual but it was really funny.

Then the doors opened to reveal the blushing bride in a white empire gown with gold trim. Her sheer veil covered her icy blonde hair and hazel eyes. Accompanied by her proud father Leanne Garrison beamed brightly at her soon to be husband, who although no one was looking at him was too radiating a smile of pure joy. However there was one person in the whole congregation looking at Ron for his reaction to his bride. To see if it was as happy as the look he had given her on their wedding wasn’t, it was better. Hermione felt a small tear roll down her cheek.
