Chapter 1: Enchanted
Kira walked into the Leaky Cauldron, pushing her glasses further up her nose. She had not seen her friend who had gone to Hogwarts in a long time so when she had suggested they meet up, she put up the familiar charade and agreed with her normal enthusiasm. It was all too normal, too predictable. Her friend was sitting at one of the tables, holding a bottle of butterbeer by the neck. Kira made her way over to her and put on a fake smile. Her friend was quick to usher her into a chair and began to talk at excessively fast pace, telling her all about everything that had gone on.
When she finally stopped, Kira looked up from her bottle of butterbeer that she had been making lazy designs with her finger on. "What's going on?" Her barely audible French accent went through her words. She had gone to Beauxbautons rather than Hogwarts when she was at that crucial age of eleven by suggestion of her parents. They didn't like the curriculm that was taught at Hogwarts and wanted better for their daughter. Also the fact that it was an all girls school helped the decision.
"Ew." Her friend told her. "It's an old classmate of mine." Kira turned in her chair to look at the offending person. All Kira could see was a mane of long, greasy, black hair. It was oddly fascinating to her. She stood, saying she was going to get more butterbeer, even though she still had a full bottle and made her way to the man. The brunette took a seat next to him at the bar and asked Tom to get another butterbeer. The man looked up and Kira felt as though she was being X-rayed. The man's gaze was so icy cold that she could have been dunked in a cold bath.
"I'm Kira. What's your name?" She asked softly, mesmerized by the man's eyes.
"Snape. Severus Snape." The man stated cooly.
"Oh. Well...i-it's a pleasure to meet you." She stuck her hand out to him and he took it, before shaking a firm three times and letting go. Now her whole body was cold, except for her hand that might as well have been placed in a furnace. Tom brought the requested butterbeer and Kira couldn't help but feel rather silly now. She took the butterbeer lazily and was unsure what to do with it. She still had a full bottle so she looked to Severus, who had yet to request a drink or reveal one in his hands.
"Erm...I just realized that I already have a drink. Would you like this one?" She asked him.
"I don't drink." Severus said icily, eyeing the drink with distaste.
"It's just butterbeer." She replied. "Nothing wrong with it. I didn't poison it." Kira retorted with a smirk. She was getting more into her element, without having to act as the peppy girl that most saw.
"I would be able to tell if you had." Severus agreed, sort of. She was unsure whether that was agreement or just another comment.
The conversation continued, Kira giving sharp retorts to Severus's quick comments. As time went on, Kira began to smile a bit more naturally, feeling more comfortable with her surroundings. Just as Severus was going to tell her something, her friend came up to them and told Kira she was going home. Kira waved her good bye before turning back to where Severus had been. He had already gotten up and was walking out. Kira jumped out of her chair and went to him. "Are you heading out as vell?"
"Yes, I need to get home." Severus told her. He took a napkin from one of the tables, and using one of those Muggle pens, he scribbled something onto it. He gave it to her before departing with a final swish of his robes. She looked at the paper which read.
Above The Newt's Eye
Kira had been pacing in her room for a majority of the night, most likely irking her landlord. Though she had slipped into her dressing robe and slippers, she still made a bit of noise with her pacing. She wondered bleakly if Severus would even want her to go to his apartment. Perhaps it was just a pity call. Kira didn't like being pitied. That was why she had put up her wall of peppiness in her second year at Beauxbautons. After everyone had found out that her mother and baby brother had died in childbirth, they had all begun to pity her. That sickened Kira to her stomach.
Either way, she decided that he wouldn't have given her a note of where she lived unless he wanted her to visit so she made her way to the Newt's Eye and began to search for Severus's room.
In Apartment 4S, Severus was having problems of his own. He had just wanted a simple night off from his Death Eater duties, but Bellatrix Lestrange had other ideas. She had barged into his apartment and after eating his stash of home made cauldron cakes began to pressure him into going to the meeting tonight. Obviously he knew about it, considering his Mark had been burning for the past half hour, but he had wanted to see if that girl he had met at the Leaky Cauldron would come by. He didn't tell Bellatrix this for the simple reason that she might hurt Kira. That was something that Severus would never be able to live down.
Kira slowly walked down the hallway, unsure on how this would happen. Would she be able to talk to Severus? Would she run away as fast as she could? She sent a prayer up, hoping that she wouldn't meet his girlfriend or wife. Or worse, find him in the act with some other girl. Kira wasn't sure what to expect. That was when she heard it. A woman's sultry voice could be heard through the paper thin door. "Come on Severus. Just one meeting. And don't forget that this is what you signed up for." Kira's legs suddenly went rigid as she stumbled backwards. Her throat clenched and she held back a cry. She should have known, expected, this. Kira slowly backed away from the door before sprinting down the hallway, the note that she was planning on leaving with him falling out of her grasp.
Severus pushed Bellatrix away, all while leading her to the door. He opened the door and after Bellatrix finally Disapparated away, he looked around, almost expectind Kira to be waiting somewhere for him. That was when he noticed the piece of paper sitting haphazardly against the wall. He slowly picked it up and read
I was enchanted to meet you
