“After the fall of Voldermort and his Death Eaters, Witches and Wizards all over the world never suspected that yet another dark wizard would plague our everyday lives with acts of murder and torture upon muggles, muggle-borns and wizards alike. I cannot say that I was a friend of Tom Riddle’s, why of course, he did try to kill me several times, but if he were still alive I’m sure if he would dislike this new dark wizard, and with that I bid you all good evening” A few people among the crowd laughed and toasted their glasses in the air as the legendary auror, Harry Potter stood down from the podium. Cheers and claps erupted into the large room as the host for the evening returned to his podium and led the room in another round of applause for Mr Potter.

In her mid-thigh dark blue dress, Elixa Rivet clapped along with the rest of the crowd. Her smile brightening as her former auror trainer walked towards her. “Elixa, how are you?” He asked, placing a soft kiss on her cheek.

“Lovely thank you, Mr Potter” She replied. Elixa had only just finished her auror training under Harry Potter whom she had become very close to towards the last few years of her training and she had quickly become one of his favourite students. She was extremely talented- fiery, with an excellent aim and a will to learn. In that way, she reminded Harry of a mixture of Tonks, Hermione and Ginny.

“What did I say about calling me Mr Potter now Elixa?” He asked, one of his eyebrows arching.

“Sorry, Harry” Both of them chuckled. “Do you really think this dark wizard is going to be worse than Voldermort? You always said that, there people would try and beat him but do you think this guy actually will?” Elixa’s voice dropped down to a murmur, the party was still in full swing around the two aurors and therefore no one was watching them talk.

“I’m not sure Elixa, I wish I could tell you” Harry sighed. “However, come to my office on Monday- there’s a mission that fits you perfectly and would help me answer that question for when the rest of the world asks” Elixa nodded. “Thank you, Enjoy your night Elixa” She smiled watching him walking away before downing the rest of her firewhiskey and searching through the crowd for a familiar face.

Her light brown eyes finally rested upon the face of one of her closest friends during her training- Ben Smith, he seemed to notice that she was standing by herself and was quickly by her side.

“Hey dude” He grinned, Elixa had always been treated like one of the boys not that she cared really. She had never been much of a girly girl and much preferred male company to that of a whiny, upset girl maybe the fact that not many girls at all got into auror training was part of the reason Elixa was so interested in it.

“Hey, enjoying the party?” She asked, running her fingers through her dark chocolate locks.

“Sure, sure. Wherever there are women, it’s good” Ben smirked, he’d always been a bit of a ladies man due to his dashingly good looks. Elixa had always thought, that if she didn’t know about his bad ass ways then she’s definitely ‘go there’.

“You are disgusting, you know that right Benji?” She teased, ruffling up his hair. He glared at the nickname and flattened his hair back down, winking at some of the women standing in the opposite corner.

“But you still love me” He grinned, turning back to face her.

“Get out of here, and keep you thing in your pants sweetie. Half these women are married to aurors in our office and the rest are daughters!” She called after him as he sauntered over to a couple of girls who looked about seventeen and were wearing dresses that left nothing to imagination. Elixa shook her head- that was part of the reason she would never get along with girls. Sure, she loved wearing dresses as much as the next girl. In fact she loved the little deep blue dress that she was wearing, and her super high lace-up heels but she believed in playing hard to get, not just throwing everything away from a cute boy that she’d met once.

Maybe she felt like that because that was what her mother believed in too, and she’d always told that to Elixa. Who knew?

Looking back over at the girls, she could tell that were already falling for Ben’s sweet nothings and hand brushing techniques. She couldn’t help but laugh and pick up another glass of the fancy French champagne from a floating tray and downing the whole thing in the one shot before walking off in pursuit to find more, perhaps something even a bit stronger. She thought she deserved if she was going to watch her best friend with these girls for a few more hours.

Sunday passed quickly for Elixa who spent most of the day in bed trying to rid herself of the horrible headache that went along with the pounding hangover.  Although she slept relatively well that night she still found herself reluctantly rolling out of bed early on Monday morning.

After a quick shower and some cereal without milk for breakfast she flooed to work, hastily making her way to the auror department. Once there, she dropped her bag underneath her new desk and sat down.

Suddenly she felt the nerves come through, this was to be her first full day of work and to say that she was having doubts about her skills would be an understatement. What if she couldn’t deal with the workload? What if the sight of dead bodies made her toes curl? Could she still be a good auror or would she fall before she flew?

“Elixa!” Harry Potter’s voice interrupted her thoughts. “Can I talk to you in my office?” She nodded, pushing her chair out. “About that mission…”

Authors Note;  Hello again, Yeah I know yet another novel for me to work on but I absolutely promise that I’m going to keep up, in fact if I don’t feel free to behead me.

I’ve never written anything Next Gen before so if you have any suggestions or tips, let me know with a quick review.

I realise this chapter is quite small and uninteresting but I really couldn’t continue from there but I promise you the next chapter will be much, much better. I hope that you enjoyed this chapter anyway and that you will continue to read.
