Chapter 13: Chapter 13 - Hogsmeade Drama, Part I
"A talent for drama is not a talent for writing, but is an ability to articulate human relationships.”
- Gore Vidal
As friday came, the summer just a mere memory as the cold wind surrounded the Hogwarts grounds, everyone over fourth year was excited to go to Hogsmeade. Of course, students that had been in Hogsmeade before saw this as a change from the usual schedule, as the new fourth years saw this as an opportunity to explore the little village nearby.
In all honesty, you would grow sick of it in less than three years. But then again, this was Izzy's own personal opinion.
"What's done is done, what's seen is seen," she grumbled as she pulled on her boots.
"Izzy, where's my red turtleneck?" Kate asked as she walked around in the messy dorm.
The dorm had never been messier. Not ever since Lily had moved to the Head's dorm, and the other girls had gone practically insane. Clothes were spread around on the floor - mostly Nessa's - and Kate tip toed easily over the huge pile of bras that belonged to Heather or Sarah, who where both trying to squash closer to the mirror. Kate threw a thoughtful look towards the bathroom where Nessa was showering.
"Is she trying to drown herself, or what?" Kate asked and sat on her bed opposite from Izzy.
Izzy continued to put on her boots, not looking up. When she noticed the silence between her and Kate, she looked up and shrugged. "Hopefully. Although, I'm pretty sure that her overlarge head will always pop up, no matter what..." she grumbled darkly.
"Izzy!" Kate said and frowned. "Don't be mean."
"Oh yeah, this is all my fault, huh?" Izzy snorted and pulled on a black t-shirt on her white ¾-shirt.
"I didn't say that, Iz," Kate muttered as she noticed a red woolen sleeve stuck out from under a pile of jeans. She pulled it hard and smiled widely as she realized it was her long lost turtleneck and pulled it over her head. "I'm just saying that... well, maybe you shouldn't judge her, she--"
Kate stopped suddenly as the bathroom door opened and Nessa stepped out, her hair magically dried and in beautiful curls. She wore a tight, yellow t-shirt, that barely covered her belly. She had a short denim skirt on, and long boots, and Izzy's jaw dropped as she looked Nessa up and down. Nessa raised her eyebrow and grabbed her denim jacket and hurried down, leaving the other girls in stunned silence.
"What a bitch," Izzy heard Heather hiss.
Kate smiled as she noticed Izzy glare rudely towards the girl, and quickly occupied herself with her loose jeans instead.
"You still care about her, don't you?" Kate said quietly and sat down beside Izzy.
"No," Izzy denied and shook her head. "She's..." but somehow Izzy couldn't find the right words to describe Nessa, her best friend. "She's my best friend," Izzy said fondly and smiled as she remembered all their moments together. "What happened?" she asked and looked at Kate with her brown eyes. "What happened to us?"
Kate looked down, not knowing what to answer.
"Where's my shirt, where's my shirt, where's my shirt, where's my shirt, where's my--?" James muttered, throwing his clothes around in his room, wearing nothing but his jeans.
"Potter, I--" Lily began and entered his room.
Lily let out a shriek as a dirty shirt hit her in the face and she started to spin around in circles, her eyes tightly shut as she waved her hands in panic. "Eww, eww, eww, eww, take it away, take it away, take it away!"
"Calm down, Evans!" James laughed and snatched his shirt away from her face. "What's up?" he asked and pulled the shirt on.
Lily slowly opened one eye and peered at him carefully, and soon she stared at him with both her emerald green eyes. "Well, if you want to meet up with Kate, you better hurry and get her now, because it might take us a while to help organize the fourth years."
"Oh, right," James said and continued smiling amused. "You really thought that shirt attacked you, didn't you?"
"No!" Lily said outraged. After a while of silence she blushed and looked away quickly. "I'm just not used to get thrown at with clothes."
James chuckled and crossed his arms, looking down at Lily's face. She was so beautiful, even when she wore something as boring as the usual grey Hogwarts cardigan and normal jeans.
"Kate must be waiting!" Lily said suddenly and rushed out, her face red as the setting sun. "See you at the doors!" she called over her shoulder and snatched her coat. "And change your shirt, for Merlin's sake!"
Sirius waited for Izzy to arrive, his legs hanging over the sofa, as Remus looked at him with an amused expression on his face.
"Nervous?" he asked cheekily.
"What?" Sirius asked and looked up in surprise. "Who, me? No, never, nuh-huh, not at all!"
"Right," Remus chuckled and stood up as James dashed in. "Hey Prongs!"
"Proooooooooongs!" Sirius said cheerfully, spreading his arms.
"Don't start," James said and pocketed his hands, glancing up the stairs. "Am I late?"
"Would I still be here if you were?" Sirius said.
"Good--" James started, but fell silent as the girls came walking down, Kate trying to nudge the laughing Izzy. "--point."
Sirius' face lit up as he dashed forward to meet Izzy, almost running over Kate who was just pulled aside by Remus, who stood nearby. They both glanced at each other nervously, and Remus let go of her, quickly hurrying out from the Common Room with Kate staring after him longingly.
"Ready?" James asked and offered his hand.
"Yeah," Kate said and smiled as she took James hand. Kate waved to Izzy, who winked quickly and made a kissy face, making Kate frown deeply.
"What was that about?" Sirius asked curiously as he placed his arms around Izzy's waist.
"Nothing," Izzy said and looked down at his arms. "Do you have to cling like that?" she asked.
"No, but it's nice," Sirius said grinning.
"Dork," Izzy said and placed her hand on his forehead and pushed him firmly away while rolling her eyes. "Come on, I want to go to Zonko's!"
"This is why we make such a great couple!" Sirius chirped and hurried after her, trying to help her through the portrait hole.
"Shut up, Sirius," Izzy said and ignored his helping hand, climbing through by herself.
"Anything for you, love!"
After informing the fourth years what the rules were - Kate and Matthew Harper waiting patiently for their dates - James rushed to Kate and took her hand, leading her gently towards the small village.
"Lily?" Matthew said, glancing at the red head who had freezed in her steps.
"Huh?" she said and blinked a few times before looking at him. "Yes?"
"I asked if you like Quidditch?" he asked.
"Oh!" Lily said, frowning. "Well, I think it's... fun."
Lily's opinion of 'fun' was spending a quiet night in front of the fire, reading a very interesting book. And that was pretty much it. Quidditch was just another opportunity to look like a fool in a crowd.
But Lily had never missed one single Quidditch game, even if it wasn't Gryffindor playing.
"Really? I was thinking that maybe I could show you a few moves, and maybe if you're good, you could also learn them and--"
Matthew's voice slowly disappeared as Lily pushed her hands in her pockets, staring at the couple walking further down the road, talking cheerfully - while she, Lily, walked beside a self-centered git who had nothing else on mind than Quidditch.
Which was much better than other things guys in his age had in mind.
"Where d'you want to go?" Matthew asked as they walked down the main street.
Lily looked closely where James and Kate went, and as she noticed them step inside to Honeydukes, she sighed and looked towards the Three Broomsticks.
"Wanna go for a Butterbeer?" she asked lamely.
"Sirius!" Izzy snapped, glaring daggers at Sirius. "Why are you staring at her ass?" she demanded with a low tone.
Sirius sat quickly straight up, wearing a very innocent face. "What, it's Rosmerta!"
"Exactly!" Izzy said and glared at the beautiful Rosmerta.
"Aww, jealous much?" Sirius teased and wrapped his arm around Izzy, nuzzling his face into her neck.
"Gerroffme," Izzy muttered, shrugging his arm away and crossed her arms firmly. "I'm not jealous, I just think it's stupid."
"You're jealous," Sirius stated, nodding wisely at the look on Izzy's face.
"No, I'm not!"
As the door opened, and a laughing crowd entered, Izzy and Sirius both looked up, their smiles disappearing immediatly as they saw Regulus enter with Nessa in his tight embrace, followed by Ethan, Lucius, Narcissa, Rodolphus and Bellatrix. Sirius and Izzy both narrowed their eyes at the Slytherins when they passed their table, the Blacks giving Sirius a look of utter loathe.
"Isabel!" Lucius said smirking, stopping with Narcissa at their table. "What are you doing with him?"
"Looks like you haven't heard the rumors, have you now, Lucius?" Izzy said rudely, clutching her wand in her pocket.
"Why yes, I have. I just didn't think you would sink that low..."
"Why you--" Izzy started, standing up quickly, Sirius following and holding her back firmly. "Let me go, Sirius!"
"Calm down, Izzy, it's not worth it," he muttered in her hair, making her calm down slightly.
"You're right," Izzy snarled. "Why waste time on filth like them?"
Lucius laughed coldly and gave Izzy one last look, before returning to his friends.
"It's not hard to tell who's the man in that relationship," Regulus commented, chuckling.
"That's it!" Sirius announced, climbing over the table and attacking Regulus, starting to hit his face as hard and much as he could.
"Sirius!" Izzy screamed, trying to pull him away. "Stop it, Sirius, stop it!"
"Worried that he will lose and ruin your reputation?" Narcissa shot.
"Now you're in for it," Izzy said, looking slowly at the blonde Slytherin.
Izzy tackled Narcissa to the floor, sending them rolling around ont he floor until Izzy had Narcissa pinned to the floor, pulling her hair and hitting her face furiously. Narcissa's screams made her only more excited.
The bystanders were trying to pull Sirius and Izzy away from the two Slytherins, while Nessa stood among the crowd, staring blankly at the fist fight before her. She shook her head the very moment the pub door opened, and James and Kate, right after them Lily with her date Matthew Harper, entered, their faces turning into pure fury as they saw what was going on. James was right about ready to join the fight to help his friend, but noticed Lily's face turn red with anger as she stomped towards the crowd, pushing past everyone to get to the troublemakers.
"Isabel Rush!!!!" Lily roared, and the whole pub fell silent. "What in the name of Merlin's beard are you doing!?"
Izzy looked up, and looked back at Narcissa, who was whimpering on the floor. With one last punch, Izzy stood up and brushed herself off, keeping her head high.
"She was annoying me," she stated.
"Who isn't annoying you, Izzy?" Lily asked, placing her hands on her hips, as James pulled Sirius away from Regulus, trying to keep the two of them away from each other.
"This is none of your business, Lily!" Izzy snapped angrily.
"I am Head Girl, Rush, and this is damn well my business!" Lily roared, making everyone gasp at the first bad word Lily Evans had ever said. "Detention, Rush!"
Izzy flinched a bit at the use of her surname, her eyes filling with tears as she elbowed her way away from the pub, Sirius right behind her.
"Detention for you too, Sirius!" James called after his friend.
"Why don't you shove that detention up your ass, Prongs!" Sirius yelled back, before the door slammed shut behind him.
The entire pub stared at the two Heads, whispering to their friends about what had just happened. Kate shook her head as James looked at Lily for some comforting words, but Lily kept her face and nodded to James, returning to Matthew, whispering something to him, and quickly left the pub.
"Should we also leave?" Kate asked James quietly, not enjoying the feeling of everyone's eyes on her.
"Yeah, let's leave," James said, glaring at everyone before taking Kate's hand and leaving the pub.
Nessa stood in shock, staring at the whole scene in front of her. Her face may have looked expressionless, but deep inside she was shocked, horrified. Before her eyes, she saw the great downfall of the friendship that had been through so much, and what for? For a stupid fight.
"It's not over, Nessa," Ethan muttered to the dark haired girl.
"What?" Nessa gasped, not sure if she had heard correctly.
"Nevermind," Ethan said, looking down at his hands as the other Slytherins seated back at the table.
"Those idiots," Regulus growled, trying to look as if he had had the upper hand in the fight. "Thinking that they could ever face me with a wand!"
"I'm sure they would, and they would probably beat you to hell and back," Nessa said challenging.
"What did you say?" Regulus demanded, as the other Slytherins glared at Nessa.
"I'm not feeling well," Nessa said, standing up. "See you in the castle," she murmured, hesitating a bit before giving Regulus a kiss on the cheek. With that, she rushed out before anyone could say anything.
She needed to get out.
A/N: ...to be continued! :D Anyway, I'm sorry I haven't updated this story in a loooooong time. The truth is that... well, I'm in a full writer's block when it comes to this, and I'm far more concentrated on my other stories, and the weird plot lines I have going on in my head. I will try to pay more attention to this story, since it's my baby :)
